  1. Do you have airport and ferry transfers included in your rates?
    Yes, we do have transfers to/from the airport and ferry included in the rates. You must send us your arrival details and receive a confirmation from us. We are not responsible for any payment of transportation if you have not received a confirmation from us. The schedule for return transportation to the airport or ferry is available at the Front Desk.
  2. How close is the resort to the Beach?
    Our beachfront condos are truly just a few steps away from the white sands of West Bay Beach. Our furthest poolside condo is about 425 feet away.
  3. Do you have a pool?
    Yes, our signature 250 ft Mayan pool is located in the center of our grounds with waterfalls, secluded jacuzzi area, a bridge and beautiful gardens.
  4. How many restaurants do you have?
    Our resort has one main restaurant serving a variety of cuisines. Our Beach Bar & Grill is located just steps from the water and has daily breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, as well as our a la carte menus with a variety of finger food and specialties such as our Mayan Seafood Combo.
  5. How many bars do you have?
    We have a main beach bar located just steps from the water.
  6. How far are you from the International Airport?
    Our resort is just 25 minutes away from the airport.
  7. Which gateway cities have direct flights to Roatan, and on what airlines?
    We have direct flights year-round from Houston, Atlanta and El Salvador. Seasonally there are flights from Miami, Newark, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Milan and Madrid. The airlines are: TACA, Continental, Delta, Sunwing, Blue Panorama and Orizonia.
  8. Can I connect through cities on the Honduran mainland?
    You can travel to San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa or La Ceiba. Domestic airlines serving Roatan from these cities include TACA Regional, CM Airlines, Central American Airline, SOSA Airline, Lahnsa Air.
  9. Is there a mosquito and sand fly problem?
    We work routinely to control the mosquito and sand fly (or sand flea) populations. We do, however, recommend carrying a bottle of bug repellent especially for time spent on the beach
  10. What kind of dress code do you recommend for restaurants in the island?
    Our Island is very relaxed and in most restaurants casual to informal is normal and accepted.
  11. Can we drink tap water?
    We suggest drinking bottled water on the island, although the hotel tap water is filtered and safe for use.
  12. What is the local custom for tipping?
    A 10% service charge is automatically added by most hotels and restaurants. Further gratuities are at the discretion of the guest.
  13. Do you have Laundry service in your resort?
    Yes, laundry service is available.
  14. Would you recommend renting a vehicle?
    If you have plans to stay a week or more we strongly recommend renting a vehicle to tour the island. Rates start at $40/day. The island is easy to navigate. We do recommend caution while driving due to the hilly, winding nature of the roads.
  15. Do you have a convenience store nearby?
    Our boutique has a selection of snacks, candy and cold beverages. There is also a deli located very near the entrance to the Mayan Princess.
  16. Do you have phones and Internet available?
    We have phones in all of our condos with access to local and international calls. In order to activate your phone for calls, we will request a credit card imprint upon arrival. Internet service is available for an additional fee.
  17. Is there an ATM nearby?
    We have an ATM machine in the resort lobby. ATMs are also located in West End Village, at the airport and at banks in Coxen Hole. Please note that these machines only dispense Lempiras, the Honduran currency. The exchange rate is approximately 19 Lempira to the US Dollar.
  18. Are US dollars accepted in the Island?
    On the island, US Dollars are used as much as the local currency and most places have their prices in US dollars. Many businesses will give you change back in Lempiras even if you pay in dollars. It is best not to bring bills over $20 as larger bills may not be accepted.
  19. Is nude sunbathing allowed?
    Generally no, because public nudity is illegal. However those who wish to do so will find that there are certain unfrequented beaches they may go to and privately sunbathe as they prefer.
  20. Do I need electrical adaptors for my hairdryer, chargers, etc?
    Electricity is 110 volts, 60 cycle AC, the same as in the United States. Visitors from countries with other electrical standards will need adaptors. The Mayan Princess supplies hair dryers upon request at the Front Desk.
  21. Do I need a passport or visa to enter the Bay Islands of Honduras?
    You need a passport that is valid for 6 months after your arrival. You will receive a 90 day tourist Visa when you arrive. You should check to see if there are any special requirements for citizens of your country but currently this is all that is required for USA, Canada, UK and European Union.
  22. Are there any airport departure fees?
    There is an airport departure tax of US $37.00/person for international flights and a domestic departure tax of L37.00/person or equivalent in US currency. Please note these fees must be paid in cash, either US Dollars or Lempiras.
  23. Will I be able to use my credit card on Roatan? Can I get cash from my credit cards?
    Yes, to both questions. All major credit cards (except Discover) are widely accepted. In restaurants, it is best to ask before ordering, since some smaller businesses don't accept credit cards. All of the banks will give cash advances or you can use an ATM. Remember that Honduran ATMs only give Lempiras.
  24. Is it safe to walk around town at night?
    Yes, definitely. Remember that the Tourism Police are here to help you and are very friendly. Do use your common sense, however, and be careful. Leave your fancy jewellery at home, stay on the main streets, do not wander on the beaches late at night, and never flash large amounts of money.
